Rangers Head to Beantown

Boston Takes on Texas

The Rangers take their two game winning streak with them into Fenway Park, home of the defending champion Boston Red Sox. I’m in the process of emotionally preparing for a tough four game series…I just have to remember it’s early in the season and we’re battling some injury bugs. Probable pitching matchups and my series prediction are after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Rangers Swiffer the Jays

April 18, 2008

The Rangers Swiffered The Jays!

I don’t feel right saying that the Rangers swept the two-game series against the Jays, so instead I’m going to say the Rangers Swiffered the Jays…yeah…that feels better. A few observations (very few since I didn’t get to watch most of it – thanks to FSN-SW and storms):

David Murphy bounced back from a poor performance on Wednesday with 3 doubles, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI. When asked to comment, he said “F–k you, RangersFan, saying I’m the opposite of clutch yesterday.” When asked how he found RangersFan on its first day of existence he said “what’s RangersFan?”

Someone needs to tell Gerald Laird that he isn’t a young Kenny Lofton. He’s ran himself into an out in two straight games. Last night he tried to stretch a single into a double and got caught. Also, he’s looking a bit lazy behind the plate; he doesn’t move his entire body to block a wild pitch. Last night he let an easy one get by and a Jays runner got an easy base.

Nice outing by Padilla. 7 innings pitched, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. CJ Wilson is lights out.

The most interesting thing about this win is that the Rangers were without Blalock, Young, and Broussard. Ramon Vazquez played shortstop, Jason Botts played first base, and the baby-faced German Duran played third base. I’m sure the farm system centered Ranger blogs will heavily cover this angle, so check out my blogroll. I’m not going to get into it because farm system topics give me serious tired-head.
