Rangers Head to Beantown

Boston Takes on Texas

The Rangers take their two game winning streak with them into Fenway Park, home of the defending champion Boston Red Sox. I’m in the process of emotionally preparing for a tough four game series…I just have to remember it’s early in the season and we’re battling some injury bugs. Probable pitching matchups and my series prediction are after the jump.

TODAY: The Rangers get to face Dice-K today. Last season the Rangers put 4 runs on the board against him, but still lost. I’m pretty sure the Rangers will be able to generate some offense against him, but not enough to match the offensive output of the Red Sox when they tee off on Luis Mendoza. He’s coming off a loss in which he gave up 4 runs in 5 innings…3 of which were unearned, but when I failed my Film History exam I thought it was unearned, too.

SATURDAY: I luckily will be too busy to watch the game because Jason Jennings and his 8.79 ERA will be on the mound. Something tells me David Ortiz will break out of his slump on Saturday.

SUNDAY: I’m looking forward to Sunday when Kevin Millwood takes on knuckleballer Tim Wakefield. This should be a good pitchers’ duel. I always enjoy watching Wakefield pitch…it feels like a totally different ball game when he pitches.

MONDAY: Somebody’s going to pitch against Clay Buttholes Buchholz. I’m guessing Kason Gabbard? It’s gonna be great.

My misguided optimistic heart says the Rangers will split the series 2-2. That pesky thing called “common sense” tells me the Rangers will limp out of Boston having won 1 game out of 3.
